ASPHALT

Asphalt is an oil based substance. It is a semi-solid hydrocarbon product produced by removing the lighter fractions (such as liquid petroleum gas, petrol and diesel) from heavy crude oil during the refining process.

As such, it is correctly known as refined asphalt. In North America, asphalt is commonly known as “asphalt cement” or “asphalt”. While elsewhere, “asphalt” is the term used for a mixture of small stones, sand, filler and asphalt, which is used as a road paving material. The asphalt mixture contains approximately 5% asphalt. At ambient temperatures asphalt is a stable, semi-solid substance.

The vast majority of refined asphalt is used in construction: primarily as a constituent of products used in paving and roofing applications. According to the requirements of the end use asphalt is produced to specification. This is achieved either by refining process or blending.

It is estimated that the current world use of asphalt is approximately 102 million tonnes per year.

Approximately 85% of all the asphalt produced is used as the binder in asphalt for roads. It is also used in other paved areas such as airport runways, car parks and footways..

Clinker TRADING

Cement clinkers are formed by the heat processing of cement elements in a kiln. Limestone, clay, bauxite, and iron ore sand in specific proportions are heated in a rotating kiln at 2,770° Fahrenheit (1,400° Celsius) until they begin to form cinder lumps, which are also known as cement clinkers. Cement clinkers are usually ground with gypsum to produce the fine powder later mixed with liquid to produce cement.
